Hughey Family El Fureidis Collection
Content Description
Photograph, clippings, ephemera, and a map on the subject of Montecito estate known as El Fureidis or the Glillespie estate. Materials were collected by J. Benedict and Elizabeth Hughey during their ownership of the property in the 1960s and 1970s. J. Benedict was an active member of the Santa Barbara Yacht Club. Elizabeth Hughey was a close friend of actress Jane Russell which explains the inclusion of a 2011 program for Russell's celebration of life. Collection includes photos of a party held at El Fureidis in early 1971 in honor of the visiting Scandinavian Yachtsmen. Handwritten Chain of Title for El Fureidis from 1859-1956. Correspondence received by Hugheys. Santa Barbara Yacht Club pamphlet c. 1971.
