Scope and Contents

The Abstracts of Title of Santa Barbara County is a collection of over one hundred volumes of 19th and early 20th century abstracts of title collected by the Santa Barbara Historical Museum. An abstract of title is a collection of legal documents that details a property’s complete legal history from its first record of ownership to the present day. An abstract of title details every title transfer and previous owner as well as any liens or other legal actions taken against the property.
