Provenance

Gift of Anne Quattrocchi Duffield Stoll via Dr. John Johnson to Chris S. Ervin. Donor narrative; "I'm glad that "F" found a good home. I've been dragging it around a while. Being a wide-eyed 20 year-old UCSB student at the time, I honestly had never heard of looting and didn't realize that's what I was doing when I picked it up. Nobody stopped me or I probably would've dropped it like the proverbial hot potato. My roommate and I were just wandering through the ruins. There was no one around the burned-out bank at the time. Such naivete is a bit hard to imagine now. It has been a fun conversation piece over the years. We were later told that "activists from out of town" took over the Isla Vista protests and that's why things got out of hand ("Our kids wouldn't do this sort of thing!"). Clearly we all have learned a lot since then."
