Provenance
Gift of Corbin Vandemoer, a descendent of Alfred Robinson's sister. "The Rose" is inscribed, "Mary Caroline Fullerton from her uncle Alfred." The donor informs that Mary Caroline Fullerton is the daughter of Helen Robinson Fullerton, sister to Alfred Robinson. The donation also includes a photocopy of a 1965 letter from Robert Morris, who was acquainted with the Gledhills, to Herbert R. Vandemoer requesting Herbert to send "The Rose," inscribed by Uncle Alfred, so it could be placed on exhibit in the new "California History Museum" opened by the Santa Barbara Historical Museum. (It only took 56 years for the request to be fulfilled.) "The Flower Vase" is inscribed to "Helen Anita Fullerton" from her father. The donor says Helen Anita Fullerton was the daughter of Mary Caroline Fullerton and that Helen Anita's middle name honors Anita de la Guerra Robinson, bride of Alfred Robinson.
