Biography

Charles R. Timpany earned his B.A. and doctorate from the University of California at Berkeley and his master's degree from Stanford University. He served as superintendent for the schools of Santa Clara County from 1957-1967. He also served as assistant superintendent from 1947-1957. Prior to serving as superintendent, Dr. Timpany was a special education teacher.

Scope and Contents From the Collection:

The Santa Barbara Legacy Reel Audio Tape Collection contain recordings of oral histories, radio programs, meetings, lectures, telephone conversations, ceremonies, and music perfomances of local old timers and influential people. These 184 electronic files, extracted from 98 one quarter-inch reel-to-reel magnetic tapes, represent the earliest audio recordings made by the Santa Barbara Historical Museum.
