Biography

Known as Las Tejas (“The Tiles,” for the 8,500 tiles on its roof), the original house, a Spanish villa, was completed in 1894 by architects Francis W. Wilson and George Washington Smith as a honeymoon home for William Alston II, the son of a South Carolina citrus tycoon. The address of Las Tejas is 675 Picacho Lane.
