Biographical / Historical

The Santa Barbara Regional Oral History Clearinghouse (SBROHC) was established in 1983 to promote the development and coordination of oral history in the Santa Barbara region. It represents one of the largest collaborative efforts among cultural heritage organizations in the country. SBROHC was composed of nine (9) non-profit organizations with active oral history programs and designed to share training, create a centralized index, and avoid duplication of effort. Through this unique cooperative, the program worked to preserve the rich historical and cultural heritage of Santa Barbara County through audio recordings. The Montecito Association History Committee was one of the original SBROHC member organizations.
