KTMS Community Mike
Subject
Subject Source: Local sources
Scope Note: For the first time in local radio history, a Santa Barbara station is broadcasting each and every local commencement exercise. KTMS and a local banking concern have already broadcast the Westmont and Junior College ceremonies, and will air the High School graduation tonight, the University services tomorrow, and the Catholic High ceremony on Saturday. This is all in line with a new KTMS policy of broadcasting more civic affairs. The News-Press station has recently installed direct lines to the major hotels and restaurants catering to civic groups in an effort to increase direct broadcasts of local meetings. The campaign is being called “The KTMS Community Mike.” — from page 3 of the 1954-06-10 issue of the Santa Barbara News-Press
