Scope and Contents
The Santa Barbara Legacy Reel Audio Tape Collection contain recordings of oral histories, radio programs, meetings, lectures, telephone conversations, ceremonies, and music perfomances of local old timers and influential people. These 184 electronic files, extracted from 98 one quarter-inch reel-to-reel magnetic tapes, represent the earliest audio recordings made by the Santa Barbara Historical Museum.

Materials Specific Details
On this 1958 oral history interview, the first speaker is Sen. J. J. "Jim" Hollister, Sr. The second speaker is William Herbert "Herbie" Roberts, who worked on the Hollister Ranch. The third and primary speaker is Anne "Annie" James Roberts, the daughter of Washingtion B. James and the niece of Col. W. W. Hollister. The interview is conducted by Edwin Gledhill. All three speakers grew up with each other on and around the Hollister Ranches. At one point on track 2, Annie states all three of the interviewees "are first cousins," Jim, Herbie, and his wife, Annie.
