Provenance
Gift of Theresa Anne Carter and the Rubalcava Family. The former owner was Ellen Chabot Bothin (1865-1965) of Piranhurst estate, Montecito, the location of Flying A Studio silent movies. Ellen's husband was Henry E. Bothin (1853-1923), a prominent San Francisco business and civic leader, who was once the largest individual property owner in San Francisco before the 1906 earthquake and fire. The donor's grandfather was the caretaker of the estate. Upon Ellen's death many of her belongings were dispersed. Because she did not have children, these items were entrusted to donor.
