Orplid Estate Postmortem Photographs
Content Description
One hundred twenty-eight (128) 5" x 5" color prints of Orplid in Hope Ranch, the estate owned by Frances Holden and her partner Lotte Lehmann. When Holden died in 1996, the donor and executor of her estate hired Bill Dewey to photograph every single room in the house exactly as it was the day she died. All the artworks (many by Lehmann), music, tiles, books, a cocker spaniel, interiors and exteriors, are recorded as it was left. Also included was a 1989 issue of "La Reata: Santa Barbara Corral of the Westerners" written by Judith Sutcliffe and focused on the Knapp Estate which Lehmann and Holden lived at briefly.
