Content Description

Two (2) oil on canvas paintings, one of Monterey Coast, circa 1920 and "Seascape," circa 1904, both by artist Lockwood De Forest. One (1) Chapin family diary, one (1) (Chapin) family diary or journal about a Santa Barbara back country trip with tipped in photos. Additional loose photos document 1903 and 1906 back country trips, and there is one (1) photo album of Miss Gamble's School. A 1902 topo map of Santa Ynez Quadrangle includes marginalia, possibly of one of the three back country trips. Another loose album page has two (2) photos of the Gillespie Estate, El Fureidis. One (1) 1949-07-31 SBNP article on Zaca Lake. Two (2) birds-eye view photos dated 1905 taken from the Mesa; one of the West Side to the Potter Hotel and Stearns Wharf, the other from the same location looking NE over the West Side towards downtown and the mountains.
