Wilhoit, Douglass W. , Sr. (Douglass Woods), 1918-2012



Douglass Woods Wilhoit, Sr. spent his early school years in Crane School in Santa Barbara. He attained hi Preparatory Education at Cate School in Carpinteria, California, graduating in the Class of 1938.

It wasa at Cate School where he learned his love for horses and the lore of the American cowboy. He was an accomplished and expert rider. His love for history of the West flourished with his stepfather, Clarence mattei, who was a renowned portrait artist who had a dear friend in the world famous Western artist, Edward Borein.
