Biography

Richard E. Praul, 85, of Stanwood, WA died July 28, 2000. He will be missed by his daughter, Christine, his son, Martin, four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Born in Burlington, New Jersey, Dick had a 45 year career working as an active reporter and editor on papers in Salt Lake City, San Francisco, Victoria, BC, and Santa Barbara where he was sports editor on the News Press. Later he had his own news agency covering the Santa Barbara Board of Supervisors and Planning Commission for papers in Santa Maria, Santa Ynez, New York and San Francisco.

In 1979 the Board of Supervisors issued a special commendation of appreciation thanking him for "keeping the public informed of what is done with the tax paper's money and trust."

Dick enjoyed hiking and camping in Sequoia and Yosemite and was proud to have hiked the Grand Canyon from the South Rim across the bottom and up to the North Rim. He was also a keen tennis player all his life.
