p>The National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) is a lineage-based membership organization of women. It was founded on Oct. 11, 1890, and incorporated by a Congressional charter in 1896. To apply to be a member of the DAR, one submits an application including family history that connects the applicant to the Revolutionary War. Members are given a lineage number.
