From the Collection:

The Santa Barbara Legacy Reel Audio Tape Collection contain recordings of oral histories, radio programs, meetings, lectures, telephone conversations, ceremonies, and music perfomances of local old timers and influential people. These 184 electronic files, extracted from 98 one quarter-inch reel-to-reel magnetic tapes, represent the earliest audio recordings made by the Santa Barbara Historical Museum.

A 1966-09-28 letter to participants of the First Conference on the Utilization of Archival and Educational Resources is read starting at 00:22:30 on Track 2. This is followed by the reading of an account on the first observation of California Constitution Day starting at 00:28:07 on Track 2.

A California Heritage Month introduction by Vice Chairman of the California Heritage Preservation Commission, Walter C. Frame, starts at 00:29:15 on Track 2. Frame introduces speakers William N. Davis, Jr. Chief of California State Archives, T. R. Smedberg, Sacramento Superintendent of Schools, and California Senator, Stan Pittman.
