From the Collection:

The Santa Barbara Legacy Reel Audio Tape Collection contain recordings of oral histories, radio programs, meetings, lectures, telephone conversations, ceremonies, and music perfomances of local old timers and influential people. These 184 electronic files, extracted from 98 one quarter-inch reel-to-reel magnetic tapes, represent the earliest audio recordings made by the Santa Barbara Historical Museum.

Materials Specific Details

The first four minutes of this track is Dorothy Holmes Toporeck's pre-recorded speech intended for a gardening club. The second recording on this track, starting at 00:04:01, is a broadcast of a 1966 humorous look at American politics titled, "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the White House." The last recording on this track, starting at 00:23:07 and continuing on Track 2, is a broadcast of the 1965 Emmy award-winning documentary on John F. Kennedy titled, "A Young Man From Boston."
