One hundred forty-four (144) letters from the Gorham and Moore families, long-time residents of early Santa Barbara. The letters were written by the donor's ancestors to other family members. The correspondence is from Santa Barbara's early American period, especially 1874-1875, and includes facts about the building of a family home at 1714 State Street. Several letters from 1874 appear to have been written by Santa Barbara resident, Burt Moore (1850-03-08 to 1939-05-01). Many letters originated in Grinnell, Iowa.
