1. Embroidered cotton christening gown worn by Fanny Searles Gradle, born in Chicago in 1856. She and her husband, prominent physician Dr. Henry Gradle, came to Santa Barbara in 1912. Mrs. Gradle was first woman to graduate from the University of Northwestern Michigan with an M.D. She was also a concert pianist and a botanist of note. 2.
