Biography
Dr. Richard Edward Oglesby was Professor Emeritus, American West and Californian History, Department of History, University of California at Santa Barbara, from 1965-1993. He taught the history of California and the West at UCSB from 1965 until his retirement in 1993. During that time, he served as chair of the History department from 1973-76, director of Summer Sessions from 1978-81, and acting dean and dean of Instructional Development from 1981-89. He was a past President of the Santa Barbara Trust for Historic Preservation and an active member of the Santa Barbara Historical Society and the Santa Barbara Corral of the Westerners.
